Facing the Giants

Prayer overcomes all. Everybody has giants to face at one point in their life. Those seemingly impossible obstacles put in front of us by God himself,(but its the devil we curse, to test our resolve in our faith. At that moment we feel the weakest, it is at that moment in time God is waiting for us to turn to Him. I have gone through enough in life to know that these are just the "papansin" of God. Sometimes, we veer too far away from the life He wants us to live and these "Giants" He puts in our way are just roadblocks designed to make us reassess the direction we are taking and maybe convince us to make a U-turn. Those "Giants" could also be precursors of things to come. May be warm-ups to prepare for the bigger challenge ahead. In any case, I guess my point is that God has a plan. Now, how we choose to execute this entirely up to us. The road we take, the fights we pick, and the decisions we make are all our choice. God gave us the freedom to make mistakes. If we weren't capable of making mistakes then, everybody would be right. If you could just imagine what that would entail. It would be like the lower house fighting for a bigger piece of that pork barrel. What kind of world would that be? Mistakes are what make us human. Thats how some people learn. I've made far too many for me not to learn a thing or two by now. I wish it didn't have to be that way, but that's life. It wouldn't be the roller-coaster ride that it is if I had done otherwise. "Maybe things would have turned out different if I did this, if I did that" if if if.. So not the way I think anymore. The key is planning. Looking at all the possible outcomes, angles, and scenarios you could be facing with your next "giant" will be your weapon. The mind is a terrible thing to waste. I learned to live without regrets. Having them would be unprofessional as M said to Bond as he walked away without killing Vesper's lover. God will not do everything for you. He will HELP do everything for you. God cannot help he who cannot help himself. That coach wanted a miracle, and he got it because he worked his ass of for it.

Moral of the story:
Never give up.
Even after the last whistle has been blown for it is God who is holding the final scorecards.
PEACE!;)

GOTO GOING GONE

The 1960s and 1970s also saw considerable debate over the merits of "structured programming", which essentially meant programming without the use of GOTO. This debate was closely related to language design: some languages did not include GOTO, which forced structured programming on the programmer. Although the debate raged hotly at the time, nearly all programmers now agree that, even in languages that provide GOTO, it is bad style to use it except in rare circumstances. As a result, later generations of language designers have found the structured programming debate tedious and even bewildering.

1972 - C
an early systems programming language, was developed by Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson at Bell Labs between 1969 and 1973.

1983 - C++

C++ is a general-purpose programming languages a general programming language.
C++ is a statically typed, free-form, multi-paradigm, compiled language where compilation creates machine code for a target machine hardware. It supports procedural programming, data abstraction, object-oriented programming, and generic programming. It is regarded as a middle-level language, as it comprises a combination of both high-level and low-level language features.[1] It was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 at Bell Labs as an enhancement to the C programming language and originally named "C with Classes". It was renamed to C++ in 1983.
he language began as enhancements to C, first adding classes, then virtual functions, operator overloading, multiple inheritance, templates, and exception handling among other features. After years of development, the C++ programming language standard was ratified in 1998 as ISO/IEC 14882:1998. The current standard is the 2003 version, ISO/IEC 14882:2003.

1991 - Java
Java is a programming language originally developed by Sun Microsystems and released in 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems' Java platform. The language derives much of its syntax from C and C++ but has a simpler object model and fewer low-level facilities. Java applications are typically compiled to bytecode that can run on any Java virtual machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture.

The original and reference implementation Java compilers, virtual machines, and class libraries were developed by Sun from 1995. As of May 2007, in compliance with the specifications of the Java Community Process, Sun made available most of their Java technologies as free software under the GNU General Public License. Others have also developed alternative implementations of these Sun technologies, such as the GNU Compiler for Java and GNU Classpath.

The revenge of the nerds

This film showing provided many insights into a world so prevalent today yet so alien to us common folk. The internet has many facets to it. We commonly use it to email, surf the web, or chat with people. But there is more to it than we think, actually the possibilities are endless. I have heard of hackers before. When I hear “hacker” what comes to mind is a person who breaks in computers to steal, plant, or destroy information. Never a good intention in what they do. Of course that’s how it started. The famous or should I say notorious “Captain Zap” , the man who holds the title of the worlds best hack ever, gave us a piece of his mind in this film. He hacked AT&T for no apparent reason. No benefit to him other than qualification from his peers. Same as the other hackers that came on the show, they did confirm that hackers mostly do it for the rush and recognition from the community. It was all about “planting their flag” in a site they have hacked. A waste of time and effort in my opinion, and I'm sure it also dawned on Captain Zap that if your good at something, you should get paid to do it. So that’s what he did.

Trivia: I did a little research on my own and saw on wired.com that Captain Zap was able to hack into AT&T by playing a certain frequency on the telephone. I don’t know how or why that worked back then or if it will work on today’s cell phones.

I didn’t know that there were two kinds of “hackers”. The common bad guys called the “black hats” or “crackers” who are out to create turmoil and wreak havoc in cyberspace and the good guys known as the ”white hats” or “angels”. These “white hats” are there to protect us from these cyber-menaces. A lot of them were originally hackers that saw the light and came over to the right side of the law. They even shun the hackers from the community and some of them became part of NYPD’s cyber crimes unit. Some of them joined internet security agencies. And some of them became freelancers or tiger teams. These tiger teams are hired by companies to find ways to hack into their system. They are tasked to find that hole so they can find a way to protect it. These people regularly have their seminars held where they get together to share information and be educated on the latest developments in hacking. These good guys have a hell of a job. They have to learn all the holes to be effectively protecting their system and all a hacker needs to do is find just one to get in and do his damage.

Overall, although hackers generally start out as mischief makers, it is good to know that some of them turn to doing good after seeing the brighter side of things. Whether their reasons may be monetary or just good old inherent goodness of man, I am happy to know that there still exists the capability for bad guys to change into good. With the reformed black hats out there, the information and experience they possess is a huge asset in the war against cybercrimes.

Blog number 1 again

I just wanna be rich, retire at 30 and drive my Ferrari F430. But I don't have that kinda money yet. So now my passion is finding ways to make that money. I like business. There are so many facets and corresponding approaches to it. I love finding the optimum solution, the least cost, and the greatest profit in the least time and effort made. That's how I roll. I'm very pragmatic. I like killing 3 birds with one stone.
